The Clapperton Collection

So, why R Clapperton Images for the website name?

It's to recognise and celebrate my family's photographic business that now goes back 5 generations to 1867.

This extensive collection of images details a social history across the Scottish Borders, including Common Ridings, agriculture, industry, towns and villages, events - to name but a few!

Each generation of photographer brings their own direction, embracing photographic innovations.

The Clapperton Collection is now held by The Scottish Borders Archive Collections and is housed in the Heritage Hub in Hawick.
